Doritos Rocket Fatbot

Like I said, the new episode would be ready today. Keep in mind, these guys are tiny.

Backtrack to the other episodes of the Tiny Plaid Ninja Series.

New Tutorials coming soon

The ABS Flash Developers Contest #8 is coming to a close, and I'll be featuring the winner and other noteworthy animations from the finalists here very soon. As for this update, mainly reruns. I'll tell you now, come back on Monday for a new episode of a particular series.

Here Mr. and Mrs. Wheatley's latest submission to ABS. The Wheatley's, remember them?

Back to School

This gallery probably had more submissions than Draw Yourself and The Plesantville Effect combined, but I did promote it too much.

I need to get you prepared for animutations again. The amount of parody is getting infinite as flash movies are refering to other previous and some are even ahead of themselves making reference to their future creations.

For example, you have a clear reference to the Shii character in Elvis not Included at its start and end.

Speaking of Elvis, when I made Elvis Lives in Flash the Bill Cosby head bob that I created was in reference to another movie I created (that I shall never speak of or post a link to in public). That reference can be dated even further to a really badly made animutation by Changwang-O, Tunak (Tuk Tuk Tuk), where I helped only the part with Bill Cosby's head - starting my favourite Animutation trend. We're talking 2001 here. The Bill Cosby bobbing head years later gets picked up by Grant for The Smurfs Lost Episode, and then that blue-tongued Bill Cosby appears in the end of the last episode of Colin Mochrie versus Jesus H. Christ. I feel like I actually made a difference on the Internet when these things happen.

By the way, the cited flash can all be found on the bottom of the Animutation page if you want to learn more.

Then there are flash similarities that I have been posting. See the following:

These similarities are usually unintentional. There are, however, direct parodies of whole files. Who remembers this movie being on ABS multiple times right before the 2004 U.S. Presidential election?

The mouth syncing on this is very difficult to create. That was my job on that flash, and I could have just followed the Keaton Method. Most parodies, sadly, don't put in the effort. I got this submission recently: Be Prepared... For Mao Zedong by migi and sorcerer.

IOU

I spent most of the past week's online time dealing with educational issues. I know I owe all my visitors more than just this update!

There hasn't been a submission from Erik (TastyBabySoup) for almost a year, but that's understanable considering he spent six months working on the "Friend of a Friend" series.

Technophobe's 56k-Friendly Games

Please read the instructions. They are both interesting and useful. You will also need at least Flash Player 7, not 6, to play these files. Need to check your version?

B-N-A-N-A-N-A-S

This is the news indirectly referenced by a lot of spokespeople, for example, Kanye West, concerning media coverage of the Katrina disaster. Here they are in easy to understand snapshots:

Edit. September 7, 2005.

These images are not shown to prove the Katrina issue is one of race - it isn't. There are many spokespeople claiming that it is and refer to the news snippets posted here and elsewhere.

The AFP (l'Agence France-Presse) photographer for the "finding" photograph, Chris Graythen, has replied on Sports Shooter Photography to explain why the photo of white people were singled out to be the only "finders" rather than "looters":

... The people were swimming in chest deep water, and there were other people in the water, both white and black. I looked for the best picture. [Emphasis added. —ed.] there were a million items floating in the water - we were right near a grocery store that had 5+ feet of water in it. it had no doors. the water was moving, and the stuff was floating away. These people were not ducking into a store and busting down windows to get electronics. They picked up bread and cokes that were floating in the water. They would have floated away anyhow. ...

P.S. Check out the source-code for this post if you want an advanced HTML lesson.

Yahoo News has removed Chris Graythen's photo stating:

To our readers: This photo was removed from Yahoo! News at the request of AFP.

Included, was a longer statement from the general manager.

Parody

Still, Badgers is probably the most parodied flash, but who knows for how long?
